Rubbish day out!
Rubbish day out!
Very expensive for entry to a park that has such limited opening times in the summer. Only open from 10am - 4pm, just 6 hours???
Went on a midweek day during school term to try and avoid too many people.
Sadly this was not the case. Literally hundreds of coaches arrived full of School children, who then went around the park, unsupervised constantly jumping queues, climbing barriers and going down the fast tracks which they didn't have tickets for, then jumping into the main line!
No Alton Towers staff anywhere to stop this, no teachers, who is responsible for all of these children and why are they Not supervised?
It took over 2 hours of queuing to get on smiler, another 90 minutes for oblivion and over an hour for wicker man. That was it, we managed just 3 rides. What a waste of time and money!
If we had bought fast passes would have probably been slightly better, but who can afford the insane prices for those tickets.
Also food was crazily expensive. We has 3 hot dogs and drinks, and this was £28. Absolute robbery!
Car parking was literally miles away from the park, at least a 15min walk to get in.
Cars put to the furthest point and the hundreds of coaches put closer to the entrance. So all those children could get in first. Not Impressed.
Don't think we'll be back, Ever, far too disappointing!
Cannot understand why so many people and especially school trips are allowed in at one time, to the detriment of all other visitors. If the queues for every ride is well over an hour, if not two, then surely there are too many people in the park!

Disappointing
Went there for my daughter's birthday, yet 3 of the rides that she really wanted to go on were closed. Some of the staff seemed to be quite short tempered and rude, I know they are probably on minimum wage and don't want to be there, but surely there some be some level of customer service. The fast pass scheme is a complete rip off, costing nearly and extra £105 ontop of the initial cost of entering the park. The park seemed untidy and run down, with some parts looking very worn out. Maybe use some of that "fast pass" money to redo it. However the fast passes have a negative affect of the queues for the normal folk, increasing the wait time by more than 50mins on some rides. Which in the extreme heat with 2 10yr olds was not a laughing matter. I saw someone throw up on one section of a ride, nothing was cleaned and the operator just let the next people on, surely there should be an process of cleaning in place especially after COVID, or does Alton Towers think they're above cleanliness! On the whole was very disappointed and felt dissatisfied with my visit. To summarise, Alton Towers seems to have lost some of the magic, staff need customer service training, tidy the park up, lots areas stunk, and to note, there seems alot more "extras" you have to pay for inside the park, even after paying the phenomenal entrance fees.

Had a wonderful time with the kids we stayed in the stargazing pods for 4 nights everything is included entertainment swimming the rides the gold the woods long walks you name it what's not to love...check out my pictures
Disgusted by the queue length
Disgusted by the queue length. My friends have just queued 3 hours for the Smiler. I lasted 30 minutes. I don’t even know how that queue is legal. You’re completely caged in and there are hundreds in it. It’s a disaster waiting to happen, especially since fights were breaking out.
I’ve been here for nearly 4 hours now and I’ve yet to get on a ride, due to the awful queues. The only one that had a relatively small queue time of 60 minutes has closed (Nemesis).
What a waste of money this is.

I purchased Alton Towers Tickets for 2…
I purchased Alton Towers Tickets for 2 Adults and 2 Children for 11th July 2022. We went on 2 rides and then queued for Rita we waited 1 hour and 30 minutes in the heat and my little boy actually passed out in the queue. We gave him some water and brought him round but he still wanted to wait in the queue. We finally got to the front, only to be told that there was a technical error and to go on a different ride while it is being fixed. There was no apology and no, here is a free fast track since you have waited all this time.
The way we were treated was disgusting. I asked the staff member if we could automatically go back to the front of the queue once working again, he just said “no”.
We then went for lunch, then the ride come back on, it said 30 minute wait, we got back in the queue and waited 1 hour 10 mins.
Food is overpriced - £5 for 3 strawberries with some melted chocolate on top. £3.50 for a small tray of chips? We wouldn’t have minded so much if we had a good time.
The app was giving inaccurate wait times and would not allow to buy on the day fast track, it wouldn’t even load up the QR code for the car park.
It is not clear if you were to buy a fast track of 12 rides for £65 – could this be split between 4 people on 3 rides?
We then waited in the queue for Oblivion and this closed whilst waiting and then the same with Spin Ball Whizzer. We waited in 3 queues for over an hour each, only to get to the front to be told there was a tech problem or they had closed. We spent a lot of money on tickets, £20 for photos, a lot of money on food, parking and a lot of money on petrol to get there – to only go on 3 rides all day?
The kids cried all the way home, they were tired and sunburned even with factor 50 just from standing in the sun all day and no rides at the end of it.
It is the worst time I have ever been to Alton Towers and shocked at the very poor customer service we received.
We had an awesome day
This is our first ever visit at the theme park, my Husband and 3 Daughters are ride mad, me not so much ? but I was Adamant I was going on Thirteen & The Wickerman … I was gutted when I read Wickerman was under maintenance, and was sooooo happy to see it was back working the day before we was due to arrive …. It didn’t dissapoint ? what a ride, I’m so glad I’ve lost the 2.5 stone to fit in the seat, as some poor man couldn’t fit and had to leave the ride.
Our first ride was Spinball, I was bricking it, as I’m not really a spinny person, my anxiety was sky high, even worse when I saw some girl had passed out, she looked really poorly.
Thirteen was also an awesome ride, when we eventually got on, we queued for nearly an hour, for the staff to tell us it had technical issues, they didn’t know how long it was going to take, so we walked back out, to find within 5 minutes, it was back open! So we ran, got there to wait another half an hour with another fault ☹️ but sooo worth the wait, it’s not the staff’s fault at all, I’m pleased I rode it! I left my stomach behind on the first drop ? shame we were missing a photo though.
My 14 year old went on her first ever upside down ride - Nemesis ! She was bricking it, so scared bless her, but came off buzzing, she wanted to ride The Smiler next, but unfortunately we ran out of time.
Only downfall was the park closed too early on how busy it was, it’s my fault, my 18 year old told me to change the date, as she went with the school 3 years ago, so knew exactly how busy it would be, but I left it and just said ‘’ we’ll go ‘’ - never ever again would I go on school trip season, queing with an impatient 9 year old is not fun, its actually embarrassing.
Next time we go, we’ll go in September and stay over, and plan out our day ahead a little bit more.
Thanks for such a good day out, and also the 41 floors that I climbed ??

Won’t be back in a hurry!
Visited Alton towers for the first time in over 6 years only to be left disappointed.
Wicker man was broke all day, smiler and oblivion also broke down during our visit which lead to us leaving the queue for these rides.
Emailed customer service to ask if anything could be done to compensate our disappointed visit, however, still no response from them.
Very poor.
This place used to be fab and it’s sadly slowly going down hill, such a shame.

Not disabled friendly if you have any questions!
Not disabled friendly if you have any questions!
Absolute nightmare to get the most basic of questions answered, can't find any answers on the website to my questions – spent 2 hours looking!
No phone number for Alton Towers-they must be scared of the phone. When I called Merlin directly they didn't even know the answer to the questions – which were relatively simple:
We were given a ride access pass, yet using the link supplied to action it doesn't work, it's asking for an offer code which we haven't been supplied with, what do we enter?
And,
How many people does the pass cover?
Very simple really!
Been trying to get answers for a week now, given up, we’ve now cancelled our 2 night stay with them and are going elsewhere.

Just not worth going. Queues bad.
The rides at Alton Towers are great, but that is the only positive and they are only great if you can get on them. Bad points? Ridiculously expensive yet only open 10 until 5 on long June days. Charge for parking on top. 15 minute walk from car to resort entrance. Far too many school parties let in. In fact too many people allowed in full stop. Queues for all rides are bad, but for some major rides just not worth the long wait. At one point we went 95 minutes without any ride as the 2 we queued for broke down before we got on and the Skyride that is meant to ease the huge walks between the different areas was closed.
Only tried the chips from the food but even they were cold and old.
It feels like corporate greed has taken over this place. The owners should try a day here themselves and see if they enjoy their time being wasted in this way.

Fabulous rides, accommodation and food need an overhaul
My husband, daughter and I came here mid week to celebrate my birthday. We stayed in a woodland village lodge. Not sure what I was expecting, but my expectations weren't met. Looked untidy with paint peeling on the outside. Indoors, very sparsely furnished. Bathroom smelt awful, probably because the ceiling fan wasn't working. Leaking shower head also didn't help. Agree with others the stained sheets are awful, really not nice for us to sleep on! . Reported to staff who were happy to help. First night we ate in Flambo Jambo's restaurant. It cost £68 for the three of us. I could feel my arteries hardening as we descended the steps. There was a big selection of food, mostly coloured grey, no fruit and not a vegetable to be seen (unless you count the peas in the Egg Fried Rice). Food so bad I went and found some Lettuce in the prawn cocktail with tomatoes and had it with potato salad. Free ice reams for after was a good choice. We had a decent night's sleep (take your own pillows and towels), and breakfast in the creaky spoon. The food was okay, nothing special. The mugs for tea were stacked on green trays upside down and were still sticky after being washed ?. Staff very nice and helpful. First day at Alton Towers was brilliant. Did all the major rides, queues weren't too bad, longest we queued was around 55 minutes. Rides set in the most beautiful park, absolutely stunning views. I would recommend if you can take your own snacks as it is very very expensive to buy on once inside the park. We had a meal on our last night in the secret garden. Meal was pretty awful. Sausage and mash with onion gravy. Again, no vegetables or fruit available. All these meals are heated up and taste that way. Lights weren't working properly so we were given vouchers for a free drink. Meal was expensive for what it was. Overall we had a fabulous time at Alton Towers. The staff are brilliant, the accommodation lets it down somewhat, and the food is poor. If I was to go again I would stay at a different hotel locally. I would buy fast passes for at least one of the two days we were there (very sore feet after a long day), and I would definitely not eat in either of the restaurants.

Queued for hours to go on 3 rides
Queued for hours to go on 3 rides. No shelter from the rain, no seats, no entertainment during the inexorable wait....well worth the entrance fee - not. Worked out about £10 a second. Overpriced refreshments - £3 for an icecream, £6 for the worlds smallest waffle. Of course I could have laid out £30 to get on the rides faster on top of the entrance fee but who can afford that! Surely there must be a more efficient way to make this work without everyone standing around for hours on end.

Absolutely mortified to see the state…
Absolutely mortified to see the state of the duvet in the Peter Rabbit Room
That is not acceptable at all and how many times has that’s duvet been re used …. Hazardous stains !!!!!
Can’t explain the disgust of seeing the stains … that was just a few on there !!!
Have the photos to show the manager when they decide to call and explain and hopefully apologise for this disgusting duvet !!! For someone who is extremely critically vulnerable to infections etc this was not a happy ending to our stay
Malfunctioning equipment substandard
Paid over £200 for 6 ppl, drove 2 and half hours , used half a tank of petrol and paid the extra for their carpark on top of the ticket prices to only get to do one ride all day and that was on the blade ( pirate ship )The app wouldnt down load ques were min 90 mins to 120 mins long to get half way into waiting in each of the ques only to be turned away half way in because of malfunctioning equipment!! counted at min 5 major rides at one point out of action all at the same time !! even the customer service for complaints kept you waiting for over 45 mins absolutely substandard let alone the miserable sickening feeling im left with is that after saving hard that weve just been compleatly ripped off.
